Filling Up my Own Cup this Valentine’s Day

(and how I could help you fill yours)

One of the adventures I’ve been on, is my own relationship. With myself. And with my partner.

It’s been up. Its been down. It’s been 5 years.

Earlier this year, you may have heard me talk about my trip to Sicily. Whenever, I meet folks, they ask me ‘How was Sicily?”

My response is, “Wonderful.” but I follow that up with “Wonderful because I have been a ‘we’ for 5 years. I organize travel for us. I organize fantastic trips for members of my leadership platform. Sicily was wonderful because it was just me, organizing a trip for me. I geeked out on visiting every site from the show ‘White Lotus” and nobody said, “oh that’s stupid.”

The second reason it was a tremendous trip: It was a reminder that nobody is responsible for my joy, except me. I fill up my own cup each day. A great story from Jay Shetty’s book:

A student asked a teacher, “What is the difference between “liking” something and ‘loving’ something. The teacher said, “If you like a flower, you pluck it. If you love a flower, you would let it remain in its natural environment, with rain, soil and sunshine to nourish it each day.”

There are things I would rather he do, like wait for me, after the performance at Carnegie Hall, than dart out the door like the building is on fire. But, maybe, just maybe, like the flower I love, rather than try to change him.

I let him be.

I love this podcast conversation between Jay Shetty and Ed Mylett on this Valentine’s Day.

This is by far, my biggest adventure ever designed for one person (that is not me)

A VIP Day in Paris, just for you.

3 days. 2 nights.

  • gain clarity on your Tedtalk
  • gain clarity on your book.
  • gain clarity on your personal brand.

Pick the goal.

Leave the rest to me.
