Why I am phasing out alcohol this holiday.

And the three things I learned so far

Last Thursday, a member of my women’s leadership platform hosted a launch party for @after_af_mag & those seeking a sober-curious lifestyle. I studied the press list as I do before any networking event. I was surprised to learn that anyone who was anyone in the alcohol-free (AF) space was attending. Marketplaces for AF gin, wine, beer. The Brooklyn Brewery, which now features 3 AF beers. Journalists who cover the space. All were crowded, elbow to elbow, into the only Manhattan bar to have the distinction of being alcohol free.

I would be lying if I told you, I wasn’t seeking a sober curious lifestyle. Twelve years ago, I was enrolled in a women’s empowerment program and @jenmacgil encouraged it. “Everything you want is on the other side of this.”

I wasn’t ready to receive the message.

6 months ago, I was working with a nutritionist who challenged me to limit my drinks to 2x a week. I kept it to 2 a night.2 nights a week

One of the things I’m teaching in my premium level Mastermind in 2023 is 10xing your life. @benhardy argues that 10xing your life is easier than 2X. 2X is just 10% better. It’s a holding pattern with more work.

10X requires you to throw out everything you know. It requires a revolution. In the words of @coach-goldsmith “What got you here, won’t get you there”

As I think about 10xing my life, I am slowly phasing alcohol out. These are the 3 things that happened as a result

1. My anxiety levels are remarkably lower.

2. I have more access to my own creativity and solutions. My thinking is clearer.

3. I have a better connection to myself. @soberincentralpark who is an influencer in the space, talks about this at length in her sobriety journey, now 16+ months in.
